RESUMEN: En el presente artículo se determina la evolución del abordaje científico de la relación entre
inteligencia emocional yrendimiento académico. Para ello se usaron técnicas bibliométricas tomando como
muestra los registros y metadatos de la base de datos Scopus, usando un protocolo de búsqueda avanzada en
base a las palabras clave de la relación en estudio. Se concluye que la relación entre inteligencia emocional y
rendimiento académico tiene un abordaje científico desde 1997 con una tendencia creciente hasta la fecha, los
países con mayor presencia en labores investigativas sobre el fenómeno son Estados Unidos, España y el Reino
Unido, otro grupo importante lo conforman Australia, India, Irán y Canadá. Las áreas del conocimiento que con
mayor frecuencia abordan la relación entre las variables, son las ciencias sociales, la medicina y la psicología,
destacando en este grupo las ciencias sociales por la disciplina de la educación.

ABSTRACT:This article determines the evolution of the scientific approach to the relationship between
emotional intelligence and academic performance. For this purpose, bibliometric techniques were used, taking
as a sample the records and metadata from the Scopus database, using an advanced search protocol based on
the keywords of the relationship under study. It is concluded that the relationship between emotional intelligence
and academic performance has had a scientific approach since 1997 with a growing trend to date. The countries
with the greatest presence in research work on the phenomenon are the United States, Spain and the United
Kingdom, another important group. They make up Australia, India, Iran and Canada. The areas of knowledge
that most frequently address the relationship between variables are the social sciences, medicine and
psychology, with the social sciences standing out in this group due to the discipline of education.
