RESUMEN: El objetivo del presente estudio es analizar la motivación de los estudiantes en la asignatura de
Biología, basadas en el uso de herramientas virtuales de gamificación para fortalecer el proceso de
enseñanza-aprendizaje en el primer año de Bachillerato General Unificado de la Unidad Educativa Santa
Elena, Ecuador. La metodología utilizada es de enfoque mixto de tipo descriptivo. Se utilizó un muestreo no
probabilístico, intencional a criterio del autor de 112 estudiantes de bachillerato. Se emplearon técnicas como
la encuesta, la entrevista y la observación como instrumento para identificar los problemas y las dificultades
que tienen los estudiantes en el aprendizaje de la Biología. Se concluye que la gamificación, en base a una
propuesta de una guía de actividades basada en el uso de herramientas virtuales, influye de manera positiva a
fortalecer la motivación en la enseñanza de la asignatura Biología.

ABSTRACT: The objective of this study is to contribute to the development of student motivation in the subject
of Biology, based on the use of virtual gamification tools to strengthen the teaching-learning process in the first
year of Unified General Baccalaureate of the Santa Elena Educational Unit, Ecuador. The methodology used is
a mixed approach of descriptive type. A non-probabilistic, intentional sampling of 112 high school students was
used at the author's discretion. Techniques such as surveys, interviews and observation were used as
instruments to identify the problems and difficulties that students have in learning Biology. It is concluded that
gamification, based on a proposal of an activity guide based on the use of virtual tools, positively influences
strengthening motivation in teaching the subject of Biology.
