RESUMEN: Como parte de las garantías que ofrece el estado ecuatoriano para los niños, se encuentra el

acceso gratuito al esquema nacional de inmunizaciones, a pesar de ello, un alto número de infantes de menos

de cinco años no culminan su ciclo de vacunación y no acuden en el tiempo establecido a recibir sus vacunas.

Teniendo en cuenta lo antes expuesto, resulta conveniente estudiar las causas que pueden llevar a esta

realidad, por ello se traza como objetivo de la investigación: la identificación de los factores que influyen en el

abandono del esquema de inmunización en estos menores que reciben sus vacunas en el Centro de Salud

“San Antonio” en Ibarra. Para ello se utilizaron distintos métodos de investigación y técnicas como la encuesta

y la entrevista. Se procesaron los datos, lográndose determinar los factores que influyen en el abandono de

los esquemas de vacunación, siendo los más representativos, el desconocimiento respecto al tema y la

desinformación en relación a la utilidad e importancia de la inmunización.

ABSTRACT: As part of the guarantees offered by the Ecuadorian state for children, there is free access to the

national immunization scheme, despite this, a high number of infants under five years of age do not complete

their vaccination cycle and do not attend the established time to receive their vaccinations. Taking into account

the above, it is convenient to study the causes that can lead to this reality, for this reason the objective of t he

investigation is: the identification of the factors that influence the abandonment of the immunization scheme in

these minors who receive their vaccines at the "San Antonio" Health Center in Ibarra. For this, different

research methods and techniques were used, such as the survey and the interview. The data was processed,

being able to determine the factors that influence the abandonment of vaccination schemes, being the most

representative, ignorance regarding the subject and misinformation in relation to the usefulness and

importance of immunization.
