RESUMEN: El presente artículo tiene como objetivo reflexionar sobre cómo la Educación Popular Ambiental

(EPA), constituye la base del fortalecimiento de la educación ambiental en la comunidad al propiciar la

integración de los diferentes actores en el logro de los objetivos estratégicos, así como contribuye a elevar el

protagonismo de los entes sociales en la gestión del conocimiento a través de prácticas participativas y la

construcción colectiva de saberes. Se analiza desde una panorámica teórico conceptual cómo la EPA posibilita

que los propios sujetos puedan realizar una lectura crítica de la realidad en que se encuentran, que les permita

identificar problemas, seleccionar alternativas de acción y construir o reconstruir propuestas factibles de

solución. Se concluye reflexionando que partir de la Educación Popular Ambiental es posible potenciar sujetos

empoderados, capaces de apostar por el enfrentamiento al cambio climático a nivel comunitario.

ABSTRACT: The objective of the present article is to reflect about the way in which the Popular Environmental

Education (PEE), constitutes the base of the Environmental Education in the community, when it supports the

integration of the different actors in the achievement of the strategic objectives, and it contributes to raise the

protagonist role of the social actors in the knowledge management throw the participative practices and the

collective construction of knowledge. It is analyzed from a conceptual theoretic panoramic how the Popular

Environmental Education makes possible that the subjects themselves can do a critical reading of their reality,

that permits them to identify problems, to select actions alternatives and to construct and reconstruct feasible

proposals of solution. As conclusions it is reflected2/ that beginning from the Popular Environmental Education,

it is possible to potentiate leaders who are capable to post for facing climatic changes in the communities.
