Reflexions on Popular Education: Historical, Philosophical and

Educational Notions for a Necessary Practice

RESUMEN: Este artículo reflexivo persigue resignificar la Educación Popular en la era posmoderna, bajo un

enfoque histórico-lógico y apoyo bibliográfico, matizado con la experiencia del autor en el tema. El objetivo fue

analizar el concepto de Educación Popular como práctica educativa, sobre la base de algunos referentes en la

materia y como herramienta pedagógica transformadora de la realidad social contemporánea. Esta forma de

trabajo educativo tiene arraigos históricos en la lucha de clases de dilectas figuras como Rodríguez y Bolívar,

punto de partida de una historia en que no ha sido fácil erradicar la matriz decolonizadora como forma de

liberar a las personas del poder dominante de la oligarquía latinoamericana. Se concluye que la Educación

Popular resulta una estrategia pedagógica y filosófica relevante para la emancipación humana a través del

conocimiento, que debe adecuarse a los nuevos contextos histórico-sociales actuales.

ABSTRACT: This reflective article seeks to resignify Popular Education in the postmodern era, under a

historical-logical approach and bibliographic support, which was nuanced with the author's experience on the

subject. The objective was to analyze the concept of Popular Education as an educational practice, based on

some references in the matter and as a transforming pedagogical tool of contemporary social reality. This form

of educational work has historical roots in the class struggle of beloved figures such as Rodríguez and Bolívar,

the starting point of a history in which it has not been easy to eradicate the decolonizing matrix as a way of

liberating people from the dominant power of the Oligarchy. Latin American. The research makes it possible to

conclude that Popular Education is a relevant pedagogical and philosophical strategy for human emancipation

through knowledge, which must be adapted to the new current historical-social contexts.
