RESUMEN: El artículo analiza las características y planteamiento central de la teoría de neocolonialidad. El
tipo de investigación según el propósito corresponde a la investigación básica o teórica. El método utilizado
fue el hermenéutico para la interpretación de los supuestos de la teoría de la neocolonialidad para ampliar el
conocimiento. Se utilizó el método analítico-sintético para unificar los supuestos de la Teoría. Los datos
recolectados fueron de las diferentes publicaciones sobre el tema. De esta manera los resultados son:
destacar la importancia de la propuesta de Aníbal Quijano por ser una teoría propia para América latina, la
misma que nos permite a las ciencias sociales realizar un profundo análisis desde la perspectiva histórica,
sobre la colonialidad del poder y sus diferentes manifestaciones, a su vez nos conlleva a repensar en una
nueva forma de construcción de ciudadanía que permita una verdadera redistribución del poder y la
reconstrucción del Estado Nación.

ABSTRACT: The article investigates the characteristics and central approach of the theory of neocoloniality.
The type of research according to the purpose corresponds to basic or theoretical research. The method used
was the hermeneutic for the interpretation of the assumptions of the theory of neocoloniality to expand
knowledge. The synthetic analytical method was used to unify the assumptions of the Theory. The data
collected was from the different publications on the subject. In this way, the results are: Highlight the
importance of Aníbal Quijano's proposal as it is a theory of its own for Latin America, the same one that allows
the social sciences to carry out a deep analysis from the historical perspective, on the coloniality of power and
its Different manifestations, in turn, leads us to rethink a new form of construction of citizenship that allows a
true redistribution of power, and the reconstruction of the Nation State.
