RESUMEN: El trabajo por cuenta propia esun nuevo sector dela economía queha surgido recientemente y

se ha visto muy favorecido por el auge turístico del municipio de Viñales, donde se recibe cada año a más de

360 mil visitantes, tanto nacionales como extranjeros, que vienen en busca de los atractivos naturales, una

estancia saludable y el disfrute de lo mejor de las tradiciones cubanas. Los trabajadores por cuenta propia de

Viñales presentan una serie de dificultades en su accionar, lo que se manifiesta en un desconocimiento de la

historia local, las tradiciones, la gastronomía cubana, los sitios turísticos y el idioma. El presente artículo tuvo

como objetivo lograr un acercamiento a los referentes teóricos de la Educación Popular para el proceso de

capacitación de trabajadores por cuenta propia en el centro urbano de Viñales en función del turismo local.

ABSTRACT: Self-employment is a new form of the economy that has emerged recently and it has been

favored by the touristic increase in Viñales, where more than 360 thousands of visitants go, national people as

well as foreigners, that come here, looking for the natural attraction of this place, a healthy stay, or the

enjoinment of our best traditions. Self-employments in Viñales present some problems while acting, because

they don t know about the local history, traditions, Cuban gastronomy, touristic places and language. The

objective of the present paper is to get an approach to the theoretical referents of the Popular Education for the

process of training the self-employments in Viñales city for the local touristic development.
